THE PROJECT
Main switch room replacement
Working with Stantec Engineering and Price Trandos Switchboards, Foster’s Services were brought on to carry out a complex main switch room replacement and relocation project for Bethesda Hospital.
From the tender stage right through to final commissioning, this project involved MIMS terminations, complex upgrades to the site’s main supply and coordination with the network operator. To minimise the impact on hospital operations, the new board was installed over the Christmas period when patient numbers are lower.
PROJECT DETAILS
What we delivered
- Decommissioning the existing switchboard in pieces and progressively moving the submains onto a new switchboard in a new location
- Replacement of the ATS with an ASCO 7000 3000A unit, connected to the existing generator, with new cabling into the site’s SPD board
- MIMS terminations
- Temporary power supply to wards and other patient locations
- Coordination with the network operator
- High levels of communication and rotating shifts of staff completing the work
